| Metro's Recent Store |
As of 25th of November 2008, Metro Markets opened its most recent store in Makram Ebeid within Omar Effendi, marking its 25th store in Greater Cairo.
This opening comes in light of talks between Metro Markets and Omar Effendi to provide more services to our customers by expanding the widespread network of stores to be closer to them. The new store operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, will provide all of Metro’s distinguished services, including home delivery, shop and drop, where you shop and we deliver you goods to your home, and the home credit service.
With trends and lifestyles shifting to more demands on fresh foods and organic lifestyles, the new store holds a large variety of fruit and vegetables, meat, fish and fresh bakery; along with the organic section, introduced in early 2007, providing health conscious customers with a more natural diet choice. More than 15,000 products will be displayed on the grocery shelves and in the fridges that have been imported directly from overseas to ensure the freshness of the fruits and vegetables as well as the meat and deli sections. In less than 10 years Metro has become Egypt’s top food retailer, serving more than 55,000 customers a day who make 2 million visits to Metro each month.
Metro’s objective is to be the leader in the retail business and to be the store just “around the corner”. With this opening Metro has 36 stores in Egypt, gaining a foothold in 9 governorates: Cairo (25), Alexandria (4), Hurghada (2), Sharm El-Sheikh (2), Port Said (1), Ismailia (1), Mansoura (1). Within the coming few years, Metro will increase its number of stores to cover more cities and increase its customer base.
